At SXSW we teamed up with BlueVishnu to turn attendees into interactive avatars, ready to enter the metaverse

Bringing SXSW to the multiverse, starting with... you
Since it started in 1987, SXSW has transformed from an indie music festival into a global showcase of the latest from the worlds of art, technology, and culture. With so much going on, it can be challenging for individual brands to break through the noise.
Tasked with introducing creators at SXSW to new Web3 platforms on behalf of our client, the energy-efficient blockchain Tezos, we decided to do something a little different: We turned attendees into interactive 3D avatars. Talk about a ‘personal’ introduction to the possibilities of Web3...
In partnership with human avatar platform BlueVishnu, we set up a proprietary scanning booth to capture a 360-degree map of attendees, and transform them into interactive avatars. Once they had been scanned, festival-goers could use their smartphone cameras to place their avatars anywhere inside the festival. As an added bonus, visitors to the Tezos booth were invited to mint their avatars free of charge as unique, collectible NFTs.
More than 3,000 3D scans later, we had filled the festival site with virtual attendees, in an activation that captured the imagination of festival-goers and vividly demonstrated the potential of Web3 technology to bridge the physical and digital worlds.
